Skulltopia 2016 was an art event that coincided with the Design and Craft Show (formerly known as The Great Art and Craft Show) where artists were invited to submit their portfolio to be considered for 1 of 80 skulls they could then do with as they liked. All manner of artists came out of the woodwork some were sculptors, some professional, some amateur, some mixed media and plenty of painters including myself. I decided to combine a few of my passions together and treat the plaster of paris skull as a blank canvas - using it's curves and edges to help dictate the placement of imagery and to further create dimension. Not only is it an homage to Pop Art the world over but also a nod to Mondrian, my love affair with comic and graffiti art all the while being an original from the pages of
